HISTORY OF THE WINERY

Location & Heritage

Magura Winery was established in 1967 in the village of Rabisha, in the northwestern part of Bulgaria. It is located 38 kilometers from the municipal center of the city of Belogradchik - a region known for its unique geology and historic sights together with a thousand-year tradition of viticulture and winemaking.

Natural Wine Making

The famous Belogradchik rock formations were sculpted by the elements for 200 million years. The Magura cave geology began around 15 million years ago. The Rabisha lake nearby was formed over a span of 4 million years - the largest internal lake in Bulgaria. Local archeology shows the tradition of viticulture and winemaking here dates back many thousands of years.
